Are we in the golden age of apps?

Medium, svbtle, Twitter and to a certain extent facebook democratize distribution of info and increase the reach in a near zero cost model.

Coursera, code academy, tree house and udacity let anyone anywhere in the world take world class classes and learn at their own pace.

Whatsapp, telegram, line, viber, voxer, kakao talk and we chat lets you talk to your friends family anytime no matter where they are in the world. Snapchat lets you send images that disappear after they are viewed. Wut wut lets you post anonymish ephemeral push notifications to all your friends.

Check, mobilligy and intuit let you pay any bills instantly from your smart phone, they also alert you when bills are due. Billguard lets you review charges that have been made to your credit card and also dispute it on your behalf it you flag something questionable.

Instadate, tinder and the like let you find dates matches near you just by swiping left or right.

Today you can get gourmet dinner delivered to you using spoonrocket sprig, get your house cleaned and make your home joyful; get an uber cab to take you where you need to be, get electronics , groceries delivered at your door step ;all with one tap of your smart phone button using instacart.

I would Argue that even the fun addictive apps serve a utilitarian purpose of making everyone savvy tech users.

Since we have almost a billion people primed to use smartphones ; is it time to rethink what we can do now?

Do great things is a clear metaphor but it is relative ; what’s truly great is trying to divine what power lies in the hands of a billion people and what changes can now be effected that wasn’t possible in a world before 2007.

The iPhone , iPad and android lately have brought a slew of super powers to everyone. What are we doing with those gifts?

Do we leverage the smart phone to do quantum 10x better ideas that humanity take a giant leap forward?
What are great hard things we can do today that wasn’t possible yesterday? In the answer lies the kind of non linear quantum leaps that are possible ? Is it possible to expect that what took 10 years will take 1 year now?
